An NBA against the spread pool takes the week's national-TV games and puts a number on each one, so a 12-point favorite has to win by more than 12 to count. It is free on Sportpoolz, nobody puts money on anything, and the prize is being top of the standings when your group checks them.
Free forever — no credit card, no money changing hands.
Sportpoolz calls this format Beat the Spread. Each Monday–Sunday week, the pool's games are the ones on national TV — about ten in a normal week. Each shows a spread beside both teams, and you take one side per game. Add your team's spread to its final score; if that beats the other team, the pick is correct and worth one point.
NBA favorites win a lot of games, which is what makes straight-up picks flat by midseason. The line is what keeps a Tuesday game between a contender and a lottery team worth thinking about. Nobody is eliminated: every week stands on its own and the season total crowns the champion.
Nobody in the pool sets the lines; they arrive automatically. Most NBA lines post only the day before or the morning of a game, so early in the week a later game shows as line pending until its number comes in. You can pick the games that have lines and come back for the rest.
The manager decides which weeks the pool covers, from opening week or any week after it, how many members it takes (2 to 30), and how weekly winners and the season champion are recognised.
Sportsbooks post most NBA lines only a day or so before tip-off, after injury reports settle. Until the number arrives the game cannot be graded against it, so it waits; pick it once the line shows.
It levels the field more than it raises the difficulty. Straight up, most groups pick the same favorites and the standings bunch together; the line makes every game a real decision, which spreads the standings out.
Sportpoolz is free. Create your account now, and starting your pool takes a couple of minutes once it opens.
