NFL Against the Spread Pool for 2026 — free for friends

Free to run, nothing to stake, and every pick is worth arguing about. In an NFL against the spread pool the line is just the scoring rule: a favorite has to win by enough for its backers to score. Sportpoolz calls the format Beat the Spread, brings in the lines and grades every pick for you.

Free forever — no credit card, no money changing hands.

How an NFL against the spread pool scores

Every game on the NFL week's schedule appears with its line. You take one side in each — favorite or underdog — and a pick earns a point when that side beats the number, not merely the opponent. Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games all count the same, and each locks at its own kickoff.

Nobody is eliminated and nothing is wagered. The standings count correct picks across the season, and the prize is the top of that table.

What the manager sets — and what nobody does

Nobody in the pool sets or adjusts a line. They arrive automatically, so the manager picks under the same numbers as everyone else. The manager's choices are the pool's shape:

  • The weeks it covers: the full eighteen, or a stretch from the current week.
  • The member cap, from 2 to 30, which locks once games begin.
  • Whether autopick covers forgotten games, and how weekly winners, the season champion and level weeks are settled.

Key dates for the 2026 season

  • Regular season, 18 weeks: September 2026 – January 2027
  • Playoffs, 14 teams: January 2027 – February 2027

Lines are on the board for every regular-season week, so a pool can start with whichever week is next.

A sample Sunday pick

  • The home team is a 3.5-point favorite. You take the visitors.
  • The home team wins by 3. Your team lost the game, but it stayed inside the number, so your pick earns the point.
  • Had the home team won by 4 or more, your pick would have missed — and a half-point line can never land exactly on the margin.

Common questions

Do NFL lines change after I make my pick?

They can — lines refresh from an odds feed until kickoff. Every pick in the pool is graded against the game's spread rather than the number showing when it was made, so everyone is held to the same line, and nobody in the pool can move it.

Is an NFL against the spread pool a bet?

No. Nothing is staked and nothing is paid out on Sportpoolz. The line is how a pick is scored, and the standings are the only thing anyone wins.
